"Origin is currently not running" popup

When I try to open The Sims 4, I get a popup that says "Origin is currently not running." (I attached an image of the popup)   I also tried opening Origin, then opening Sims, but the "Play" button is clouded out (I also attached an image of this)   I've restarted my computer several times to see if anything changed, but it didn't help. I've uninstalled all Origin/Sims files and reinstalled the programs, but nothing is helping. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me solve this issue, as I've tried every solution I've seen and nothing is helping!! Thanks
