packs missing

Every so often, when I open Sims 4 and go to play one of my saves, I get a popup that says, "Get Missing Packs? You need to purchase 39 required packs for this save file. Or, you can play the save anyway. Content from unowned packs will be removed, potentially making the save corrupted and unplayable. What would you like to do?"

The options I'm presented with are "View Packs" or "Play Save with missing content."

I don't even want to know how much money it costs to buy 39 different sims4 packs, but over the years, I have done so, and it's quite upsetting to have access to those packs disappear at random.

When I click "View Packs" I am presented with purchase screens for all of the many packs I have bought over the years, and they all say "This pack is unavailable for purchase" Because of course, I have already purchased them.

I don't know why this happens, or why it happens sometimes and not others, but I would very much like to find a resolution.

  • @Impossi_Belle_VT  This might well be an EA App issue alone, rather than anything to do with Sims 4 or your system.  Do you start the game through the EA App or from a Sims 4 desktop shortcut?  If you're using the App, does the game library load properly when this happens, or do you see an error message or a blank library or something else that might be a warning sign?

  • That makes sense. I've been having trouble getting the EA app to launch since the recent update, but this particular issue with missing packs long pre-dates those current struggles. I have been launching the game through the EA app ever since the origin app shut down, and there are no issues with the game library or anything else that I've noticed amiss

@Impossi_Belle_VT  Please make note of what you see in the App each time you open it, and if and when this issue happens again, let me know if anything has changed.  I'm also curious what the App lists under Sims 4 > Manage > Manage add-ons, whether your owned packs show there when they don't load in-game.  And it would be useful to knwo whether repairing helps, although that does take some time.
