Paying your bills in Sims 4

In Sims 3, I just clicked on mailbox and got option to pay bills.  The power was cut because the Sim family had not paid their bills.  So, I went to the mailbox to get the mail.  I got it, but there ...

there is no option to pay bills on the phone and the computer is unusable because there is no power.  there is no power no matter where the sim goes!  I've moved them out and I've had her travel but the bills remain in inventory and the action to pay bills cancel itself.  I will try to make her go to other lots and come back or perhaps separating her from the family.
