When you mean copy the folder, do I copy the folder that has the mods and stuff in it because that would be the Sims 4 folder that already has the mods in it so when you said after it works add back the mods folder and ext. But it's already in the Sims 4 file. Sorry to bother you.

It's a bit of double security.
If you rename the Sims folder, you have of course all the files still but making an extra copy is just to make sure that when manipulating the folder with renaming and putting stuff pack, nothing can go wrong, cause you still have that other backup somewhere safe.
