prep tasks/recommended skills not showing

Hello everyone! I ve decided to write this because I do not know what to do anymore and I need your help.

I just recently started playing with a new household (2 girls, 2 pets) and both of the girls have the acting career (they have different talent agencies).  Unfortunatley, every time I select a gig, it does not show the recommended skills, and even after passing the audition, no prep tasks. So, therefore, i don t know what skills to get up for the auditions, and then what to practice. I do use CC (just some clothes), but I have taken the folder "Mods" out of Electronic Arts and still no change.

Reinstalling Origin and/or the sims 4 is impossible for me because my internet is extremely bad lol. 

I saw that this issue appeared since the last update (i have version 1.52.100.1220 now). Also, all my menu/settings/notifications buttons and icons in-game are glitchy and look like a gray box. Maybe it has something to do with that?

    It can be a bug of the game but to eliminate this possibility first try to repair your game.
    Go to Documents/ElectronicArts - inside will be The Sims4 folder
    Step 1. Rename The Sims4 folder to "The Sims4 old"
    Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
    Origin/Library - right click on TS4 - option "Repair game"
    You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
    Step 3. Turn on the game - a new game folder will be created and you will have two - one old, one new
    Step 4. Check if you still have this problem in the newly created game folder. Start a new game with a random sim and play for 10 minutes.
    If the problem disappeared
    Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
    "saves" and Tray.
    Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4 old" folder and copy - your "saves " folder.
    Step. 7, Paste this folder in a newly created game folder.
    Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder and TrayDeleteItems file
    Step 9. Check if there are newly updated version mods you are using.
    Then copy and paste your mods and CC from old mods folder to the new one. First copy the scripts mods every time checking if the game is working properly. If you have a lot of CC try 50/50 method ( divide your CC into smaller batches for example 50 pieces in one subfolder and check these subfolders one by one)
    Step. 10. If all is OK - delete The Sims4 old folder. Now you will have only one game folder - I hope - working properly.

    Hi, thank you so much, that is indeed the best option. Sadly, now Origin is stuck on loading screen and i can t access my game library. I read about this exact issue on this forum, and it says something about accessing the library of the mac on root level. Well... i followed the instructions but at some point i just can t access this 'root level'. If i could, i could delete the cache from origin, and then enter and repair the sims... i do have quite of a situation here 🙂

    thank you so much though, after fixing all the other issues, I will surely try your method and i hope it will be alright.

    Hiya, sorry for the very late reply. Kinda got mad at the situation then and just left my mac to rest for about 2 weeks. I just started it again today and the loading screen problem is gone, the game and origin are both updated. As for the no-preptasks issue, holy guacamole, the solution you posted actually worked, so it s fine for me. I kinda "grabbed" those two lines that extend the job bar and the prep task appeared. Genius. Thank you so much, will be back if i have any further issues.

    I followed these instructions up until playing a new game for the ten minutes and it still isn't fixed and all my old games have gone. It was asking if I was new to the sims. Can I get my old gameplay back?
