problems with voice in CAS

    Okay. got it worked out. The clean install did help, but the issue appears to be in my sound system. I started playing sims 4 on a new windows 10 computer I've had for awhile, my speakers are 5.1 surround sound. When I went to audio in sims 4 single speakers, had voices, when I switched to 5.1 no voices. So it is me...now I just have to figure out placement out of my 5.1 to get a good effect......Sorry to take up  your time when it was me...😳

Hi

to be sure: You don't have any sound at all or does just the whole GUI not respond for existing Sims ? Are you using the cheat or wardrobe/mirror ?

I would try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

  • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
  • Tray Folder
  • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
  • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
  • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
  • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

    I tried your suggestion of resetting the game. Did that, went in to play game. had the sound when a new sim appeared, seemed to work fine. Went out of program, did a repair game on program per you instructions, went back into game, started a new game again, no sound from the sim. Am not using any cheat mirrors, had no mods it when I did this reinstall, had no previous saves or tray in when I did reinstall.

      No sure what you mean GUI, but does not work for any of my existing sims.

        I mean is it just the sound you have issues with or is stuff unresponsive when you click anything ? Aka, everything works but it's mute.
