Purchase Sims 4 add-ons online for minor

I am trying to purchase Sims 4 add-ons for my daughter account (minor) with no luck.

The help - http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-do-i-set-up-an-origin-account-for-my-child/ - says that:

Add games to your child's account.

When you purchase an eligible game on disk from a retail store or site, it will come with a serial code for Origin redemption. Log in to the child's EA Account, redeem your serial code in Origin, and you can add the game to that account.

Underage accounts cannot make purchases in the online Origin store.

Question: How do I purchase on "site" (which is my mind is origin.com), and get a serial code so that I can redeem that on the underage account?

If I buy on the parental account I get a nice receipt and the add-on show up on my account - which is useless.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

  • @cgronnerod I can only think that it has to do with minor using credit or the rating of the game. A transaction by a minor with out parental consent is illegal and invalid. Minor's can not buy alcoholic beverages online. Basically it boils down to a minor can not enter into a contract. Thus the transaction could be contested and deemed invalid. You can purchase the pack through Amazon and get an online code you can then redeem that code on Origin.

    @roberta591 - thank you.

    I spent 30 minutes with help desk to transfer the purchase of one add-on. Then I went to the local store and purchased a physical disk with a redeem code for the other add-ons.

    Seems to be the only way. Amazon is a good bet next time.
