@lauren6274 This laptop would run Sims 4 on low settings, maybe a little higher if you were only installing the base game and a few packs. But this hardware is nine years old, and the laptop itself might not be in great shape. Plus, since you're in the used market, you may be able to do better. For example, these are all newer and faster:
They're not new, for sure, but the processor in these models is more than three years newer, which gives you a better shot at being able to use this computer for longer. These do only have 8 GB RAM, which is not ideal, but it's enough for Sims 4 as long as you're not running anything else at the same time, and you have a Chromebook for that anyway. If you would like 16 GB memory, I can look up these models to see which ones would take an upgrade. RAM is cheap and relatively easy to install.
If you want to shop around yourself, any other model with a Ryzen 5 3500U processor, or to a lesser extent a 2500U, plus 8 GB RAM and at least 256 GB storage would be equivalent, running all Sims 4 content together on low-medium to medium graphics settings. If you're willing to go to Ebay or Craigslist, you could do even better: an i5-1135G7 or Ryzen 5 5500U processor plus the accompanying graphics chip should be able to handle medium-high settings, and these are newer still but old enough to be showing up on the used market.
