- @Otourd89 I found a thread that might help you in this situation: https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Feedback/Sims-4-MCCC-issue/td-p/7954434/page/2
It also has to do with the incompatibility of the SOL mod and other mods.
I hope it can be of any help. - @Trismagistos Thank you for the link, however it still wont let me delete the remaining files of the SoL mod..☹️
@Otourd89The only thing i can ask you is: 'can you rename the \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder in '\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 old' or something like that?
If you can, then repair the game through Origin. When you did that test if your game works properly with a new family.
If it doesn't work, could you please attach a screenshot or screenshots of the content of your mod folder and especially the folder in which the mods are situated that, you stated, are marked with an 'x'?
May be that we then can have a better view of the problem.I did run a repair in Origin, but that didn't help me launch the game.
Here are some screenshots of the contents of the folder. It is only those marked with 'x' left, since I can't delete them.
An error message appears that says that the file isn't available to be used on the computer and therefore can't be deleted.
- @Trismagistos Also it did not let me rename the folder :/
@Otourd89Try deleting your localthumbcache.package file from the Sims 4 folder and then try deleting the rest of the SOL mods.
@Trismagistos I tried that one but it didn't work either ☹️ Here is what's left in the Sims 4 folder (the cache folder is empty and the cachestr folder contains one package file as shown in the screenshot):
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@Otourd89 Why do you have so many temp files ? Did you create them or is that some mod that does that ?
The game is no longer running, right ? Have you tried restarting your computer ? @Otourd89Did you try to repair the game at this stage already? Are the leftover mods still in the folder? And if yes, can you delete them now?
The rest of the content seems to be alright to me except for the great amount of TMP-files.You have been able to delete the localthumbcache.package so you might also be able to rename the game folder.
- Thanks for also helping out @crinrict! This issue left me gobsmacked. I think there might be still som residual mod stuff left, but i cannot figure it out.
Thank you all for the help, I finally was able to delete the mod and launch the game! 🙂
Do any of you have any idea of why my game did not launch with the SoL mod? :/ Was it placed incorrectly?
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@Otourd89 At what point did you get stuck ? On loading a save or on loading the game itself ? Any errors ?
I assume you initially had more files than the screenshot shows ? - @crinrict It was the game itself that I couldn't start. And, yes, there were more files in the SoL mod folder but I was able to delete them when I noticed I wasn't able to start the game. For some reason it was only some certain files (the ones shown in the screenshots) that I couldn't delete.
An error appeared when I tried starting the game, that said something about there possibly being an error and checking mods. - crinrict6 years agoHero+
@Otourd89 Maybe you downloaded an older version ? Did you get it from kawaiistacie site directly ?
Version 4.1 should be the one to run with Patch 1.61
- @crinrict Yes, I got it directly from kawaiistacie, the 4.1 version.
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@Otourd89 Maybe a conflict with some other mod then. Really hard to tell. I would suggest asking at kawaiistacie page. Maybe it's a known issue.
- @crinrict I was able to create a new Sims 4 folder and I then made a separate folder in mods for SoL in which I extracted the files. I'm happy to tell that the game at least starts now (even if that means that I will start from scratch), I just need to check that the mod works within the game 🙂
Thank you to both of you for your help! I almost thought that I had ruined my game! - @Otourd89 I am glad I could have been of some help.
I hope you'll have fun gaming again. - crinrict6 years agoHero+@Otourd89 It's not that easy to ruin the game 😉
Anyways, best is to always keep backups of your save before adding new mods in case something does go wrong.
