@DanikTheDoggo  When you originally bought Sims 4, you received a language-locked version, and there's no way to switch to the global version without obtaining a new copy.  For that, downloading from Steam once the game becomes free is your best bet.  And yes, you can transfer your Origin-owned packs to a Steam install.

When you're ready, you'll need to uninstall the Origin version of Sims 4 and download the base game from Steam.  Once it's installed, you'd then login to Origin and download your packs from there, and they'd work with the Steam base game.  Keep in mind that you'll need to link your Steam and Origin accounts, if you haven't already, and run both launchers while you're playing Sims 4.

The only other step you'll want to take is to back up the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts.  This folder contains your saves and other user data, and doesn't usually get deleted during the uninstall process.  But it's always best to have a spare copy of this folder just in case something goes wrong.  The contents of the folder, both saves and anything else you've created or downloaded, will work equally well in your Steam install as long as you download all the packs you currently use.

I will also backup my saves just in case. Though due to my not-so-recent PC transfer, i lost the biggest save i had (Because i wasnt aware of no cloud saving) so not like i would lose much if it somehow didnt transfer lol.

Is there really no way to download the other language pack, since the game is free to play now?

I am from Poland and struggle with the same issue. I am dissapointed with the stupid Polish names, I change it on every save, but it is impossible for some characters. Since there is no option for setting the original names of worlds and townies, I am thinking about downloading the English version as well.

@anikamtb  As of now, no, Origin and the EA App are still providing language-locked versions of Sims 4 with no way around it.  The best option you have is to "buy" (for free) and download the game through Steam.  As said, your Origin-bought packs will work once you download them into the Steam install.

It's also possible to buy a product code for the global version of Sims 4 and add it to your account, but you'll want to have your current base game removed from your account first.  And make sure the code you buy is actually what it claims to be; many key sellers are less than honest about the origins of their products.
