Hello! I am having the same issue. I have tried your suggestion but with no luck.. I have Windows Defender as my antivirus.

@lydibird  Which suggestion did you try that didn't help?  The first would be to pause OneDrive syncing, which you can do by right-clicking the OneDrive icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.  The second would be to create a new admin Windows account, specifically a local one (as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account), and try playing in that.

Huh, looks like this issue is still going XD

Mine seems to have started after the last update on the 12th. I have removed all mods, and have done everything on every forum/ FAQ/ Answers blog I have come across including going through my Windows Defender, uninstalling both the Sims4 and EA, and then reinstalling them.

I also tried switching to using Steam, which gave me an entirely different issue of infinity looping the launch attempt.

After re-installing through EA again, I noticed there is no Sims4 folder in my Documents>Electronic Arts folder, which means it's not getting far enough to generate a new folder. At this point, I'm not sure if it is the Sims or my EA launcher.

@vhlauren316  I've merged your post (and the entire previous thread) into the newer master thread for this error.  Please see the first post on page one.

Hi! I have tried eveyrthing from this thread and the only thing that works is playing on a different user. I have moved the Electronic Arts folder out of documents on my admin account and still have the issue. A new folder didn't even spawn in like you said before. I've attached my dxdiag.

@Screlch  Because Sims 4 works in the new Windows account but not the old one, and you don't even get a new user folder in the old account when you try to play, the problem is pretty clearly the old account.  I don't have any further suggestions though; everything I could think of or have seen help someone else is in the first post of this thread.

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps your Documents folder is in a location that's not accessible, in which case the suggestion to move Documents to a different location might help.  Your D drive is just as fast as C, so you could try moving it there.  But if you've already done so and it didn't make a difference, I don't know what else to tell you, unfortunately.  At least you can play in the new account.

After today's update my game will not load, even after repairing/reinstalling and without mods/cc/saves added. I'm just about ready to say goodbye to the Sims 4 for good.

@HillyPlays  Are you seeing the already running error, or something else?  If you're getting this error, have you tried the steps in the first post on page one since the update?

Yes and I've had friends try helping me but it's still not letting my game load.

@HillyPlays  Does the game load in a new local admin Windows account?  Please create a fresh one just for testing and let me know.

@m8m65lftljx1  I've merged your posts with the master thread for the already running error.  Please try the other suggestions in the first post on page one.

@inuyasharules659  I've merged your post as well.  Please see the first post on page one.

I haven't tried that yet. I'll do so tomorrow.
