Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 doesn't start - No Error Message (Patch 1.68.154)

Jeanine, it looks like you've gone through what I went through.  It was the Sophos antivirus setting PROTECTION/EXPLOITS/EXPLOIT MIGRATION/ and then disable the 'Prevent Code Cave Utilization' option.  If you are running another antivirus then I expect there will be a similar setting here.

ADMINS  not sure how to set my original question to resolved or close it.  Happy for you to do this though.

  • Thank you so much Karen! It was indeed the setting on my Sophos.

@karenKent As your post is part of this master thread, there's no need to do that.

Have you tested if there's a way to add an exception to that code cave utilization instead of turning it off ?
  • it's pretty much either off or on, no other options (see screenshot).  I added ea.com to my list of website exceptions but that doesn't help this issue.

@gusgus445 I moved your thread over to a more appropriate thread. Can you try the suggestions given on the first post of this thread ?
  • @karenKent This was my issue with Sophos, so thank you for mentioning it here! Took my husband and I forever to figure out how to fix it. For anyone with Sophos, definitely look at that post.

@crinrict yes I did, it was on the list of things you told me to write about what I've done(I actually edited it recently btw in case you wanna check up on it) I think, my dad told me to reinstall the game cause he thought the update download messed up, still doesn't work though

  • @TayloQT I'm just reading this post...I have been at a loss since the Nov 10, 2020 update. literally. I've watched old youtube videos, read so many blogs and by accident i came across the Sophos post. It helped and now i'm in playing sims and its working better than ever, really. What other methods have you tried? i wanna help. Sims life is the best life

  • @nicvinn yeh I've tried everything, the recent bug fix also didn't fix the issue which is so frustrating xd but if you do wanna help I'd suggest being pretty active on this thread when it comes to pumping out info
