Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 Unable to Start, Already Running

Hey everyone, 

After speaking to EA support (twice) and exhausting all troubleshooting options they've advised to post here to see if anybody can support.

I own the base game on steam and all the expansions on the EA app. I've never had an issue launching the game this way until 2 days ago. My accounts are defiantly linked, as stated this way of playing has never been an issue before. 

When launching the game, the EA app will get stuck in a "launching game" loop and as such Steam will give the error "game already running" due to the launch loop.

I've checked the task manager and can confirm the game defiantly isn't running.

Troubleshooting steps I've tried so far:

  • Validating game files on steam
  • Clearing cache on EA app 
  • Uninstalling/reinstalling EA app
  • Uninstalling/reinstalling game on steam
  • Removing all mods/cc
  • Tried launching from both launchers
  • Ensuring all drivers up to date / DirectX check
  • Disabling my antivirus software
  • Closing EAbackground service in task manager and relaunching
  • Restarting my PC (multiple times) 

I've provided an image of the issue I'm experiencing (please excuse the layout, its a screengrab of the video I took for the support team) 

If anybody has any advice on how to fix this issue that would be very much appreciated! Not sure where to go from here.
