Your saved game may not be gone.

If I'm understanding this correctly, you still have your saved games in your Sims 4\saves folder? Yes? [Path: > C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves]

There may be a few issues going on here, you may need to recover a game save or rename a game save. If you're missing a family or families, Click Manage Households (up in the right corner) to view what families are in-game and what town they are in. Then go find them in the town they are in and select them to play. This will make them your active family.

1. Try Recovering a game save.

- Click the "Load Game" button, from Main Menu.
- In the Load Game Menu, you'll see thumbnails of all your saved games.
- Click a saved game, and click the "Recover Save" button -- which is next to the play button.
- Rename the saved game if you wish, then go back to Main Menu and Load Game Menu to see your recovered game.

2. If you have save files in the saves folder, but the game doesn't recognize them try renaming them. - I've had this happen to me a few times and what has helped is renaming the save files in the save folder.

If you have an old auto save file (Slot_00000001.save) it's safe to delete as the game doesn't use it anymore. To rename your save, remove the version number. - .ver0 or .ver1 by deleting the .ver1 on the end.

For example:

Slot_00000002.save.ver1

Rename it to:
Slot_00000002.save

You may want to give it a different number if you already have a save 2 in your folder. The game should then recognize the save file again.
