Re-downloading Sims 4 which already I have downloaded on my pc

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Sims 4
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats and dogs Get to work holiday celebration package Tiny living Just purchased high school years
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Unsure
What happens when the bug occurs? Can't play sims 4
What do you expect to see? Be able to launch and play the game
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Having to download EA app now that origin isn't a thing

I have sims 4 installed on my computer but am unable to play sims on EA app last played on the origin app. I don't have space to redownload and don't want to deleted my previous sim 4 data. Ea app is asking for a download.

  • @jh4169  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

    If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

    Hello, At this time if you cannot launch The Sims 4 on EA app, please fully exit the app by ending the EA and EA Background Service processes in the task manager, then relaunch the EA app and try again. If you still cannot launch The Sims 4 please run an EA Error Report and provide the Report ID in a new thread.

    Otherwise you can repair or redownload the app but first remove your Mods folder, Saves folder, and Tray to your desktop so you will not loose any important game information.
