Re: Graphics changed after update

@greenean71   The update may (probably) have reset the graphics options. A possible reason may be that the card was not in the game database (or mislabeled) before the update. The 4650 is not a very strong graphics card. First guess is the gamma setting is too high. I would recommend getting a stronger video card if your computer is a desktop. There is a good selection of mid range cards available at fair prices. High end cards (mid to high end) are being gobbled up by the virtual money miners and have driven prices above retail. Sims 4 should run good on a solid mid range card. I'm prefer Nvidia cards so I'm not well versed on ATI (AMD) based cards. Manufacturers play game with card names so you really have to know what you are looking for. To really begin to help you it would be nice to know what display you have and how it is connected to the computer (vga, dvi, hdmi, etc).

Thanks for your reply. So if I understand what you are saying that it's possible that my graphics card was probably low on the list of running Sims4. I would believe that because the graphics card is going on 7 or 8 years old now. I mainly bought it to run TS2 which it has done and looks very good. My actual desktop is going on 10 years old. What I can't understand is that the game looked really good graphics wise, although not perfect, but it looked decent before the update. Are there any baseline settings to start with to get the game looking any better? When I set everything to the default settings, the game looks awful.

My display is a CRT monitor with a VGA connection and screen resolution is 1024 X 768. The card does have a DVI and S-Video connectors if that makes a difference.

  • I dont think thats the issue I have a very good computer with great specs and the same happened to me after the update
