They most certainly are annoying. The required skill level plus having to grow the plants is time I would rather have my Sim doing something else.
You must have some pretty tasty Sims to have them be bitten every night. 😮 Though I have had frequent visiting vampires my Sims usually only get bitten once.

Well, planting the garlic can be done right away but learning the wreath does take time, computer research, then purchase the 1st edition book, reading... Then you have to harvest it 2 or 3 times in order to get 10 for the crafting. You're right, it does take a lot of time if you don't want to be constantly bitten.
I've been playing an alien lately. Not sure if aliens are more "tasty" than others... It was in the city also, game seems to act a lot buggier there.

One thing I'll say... even though it's very annoying, once I finally made the wreath and and a vampire showed up yet again... and finally failed... It was a lot sweeter. Interestingly, the vampires haven't shown up since. I played it all yesterday and today. Not a vampire since.
Still... I think I'll keep cheating and just give myself the wreath.

You don't have to grow garlic. It is enough to click on seedbed or pots and choose "buy garlic seeds". Do it a few times and you will have enough garlic to make a wreath of it - if you have a double door, or to make a braid if you have a single door.
Unfortunately, sim must learn how to do it, but after two days of learning he will be able to do it.

@kreatora That's true, but I "was" trying to do it the "proper" way.

What does it say about the whole vampire thing if the best way is for everyone to use exploits to get around it?
