Re: Issues with opening cheat console

I decided to put together a list of things to try for this

I'm marking this as solution to make it more visible.

Let us know if none of those work for you

  • Make sure you use the correct key combination (CTL-SHIFT-C). Mac uses the same combination.
  • Make sure that no screenshot or other program is running in the back that uses the same key combination like Gyazo. Especially HP computers tend to have pre-installed software that conflict with the cheat shortcut. Make sure to disable those background programs.
  • If you have an AMD Card, check on the settings to check if something else is assigned to the short-cut
  • Make sure that the game has the focus, especially when playing in windowed mode.
  • Try CTL-Shift--C instead.
  • When in build/buy mode, make sure the focus isn’t on the search field.
  • Reset all settings. To do so follow these steps:
    • Close the game.
    • Move this file to the desktop: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Options(.ini).
    • Start the game.
    • The file will be recreated.
    • Unfortunately this will reset all your graphics settings and similar as well and you need to re-set them.
    • Test if the console appears.

    I'm on PC, but I noticed that my [Ctrl] key wasn't working when I tried to paste an image into Discord. I looked up at Microsoft's community and I saw a solution to check by using Win+R and then typing "osk" which opens the on-screen keyboard. It works, but I find it annoying. I'm looking forward to fix the issue. And yes, the game took screenshots.

    @llamafan94 Does your CTRL Key work otherwise ? I mean if it doesn't work in discord either, it sounds more like an issue with your keyboard. Did you try a different one ?

    I want to talk about something you don't mention above:
    How accessible is the current experience? It's overall fine
    Summarize what in the product is difficult to use. I want to open cheats but it takes a screenshot
    How is this making it more difficult? I can't use cheas
    How can we reproduce this experience? Make another way to open cheats

    I have tried all of your suggestions, plus I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game, and I still can't. I've been playing it on my laptop with win 10 for years and never had a problem until now.

    I don't have mods or cc, og don't have any other programs running on the pc, I've restarted the game, origin, my pc, repaired and then reinstalled the game. I've tried af bunch of different key combinations that I found in another thread, including win key, alt ctrl left and right, you name it. I've removed the options like you said, I can't think of anything else I can do?

    I hope it's an issue with the September 2019 update, but I've googled it and I can't seem to find anyone alse with this issue...

    I tried al the things you listed but the game keeps making screen shots. I don't know how to turn that off. 

    Ctrl+shift+c doesn't work

    Ctrl+schift+windowskey+c doesn't work and I don't know what else to do.
