Re: Mac to PC Switch
@Alexiholic You're right, you can redownload your game for free from Origin. Your saves will transfer as well, although you'll need to move the data manually. All the content you've created (saves, saved households, builds) is stored in Documents\Electronic Arts, and it should work equally well in both operating systems.
You can zip up that entire folder, or just the contents of your Saves and Tray folders inside. Either way, probably the easiest thing to do is to upload your content to a free filesharing site and then redownload it onto your new computer. You can use a USB stick as well, but you'll need to make sure it's formatted correctly so both Windows and macOS can read it.
The best practice is to install and launch Sims 4 once to create a new game folder in Documents\Electronic Arts, and to make sure the game is running well. Then quit, go into the game folder, and delete anything in Saves or Tray, unless you want to keep something new you made. (If so, put it aside so you don't overwrite it.) Then copy the contents of Saves and Tray from your old game folder to the new one, and everything should be there for you to use.
If you have mods and custom, they're supposed to be transferable too, but it doesn't always work. It's better to download fresh copies if it's not too inconvenient.
