@abigailbutcher8  This often happens because of Windows notifications underneath the game window, so to speak.  Try disabling notifications while you play.

If that doesn't help, try disabling any overlays you have running alongside Sims 4.  Disable Origin in-game as well: in Origin, hover overy your username, select Application Settings, then Origin in-game, and turn off the setting.
