Re: no load game button sims 4

  1. Close the game
  2. Try moving your saves folder to the desktop, then start a new start the game to create a new saves folder.
  3. Close the game
  4. Put one of the save games from your folder back (not the slot_00000001.save, that's the autosave)
  5. Check if it now shows up again

This hasn't worked for me. I tried the solution you suggested. I have the saved files but whatever I do they won't open and there is no Load Game option when opening Sims 4.

My son has spent 12 hours of gameplay and now can't open his saved game, he is mortified. If the load game option is there on Xbox, why not on my Mac?

Begs the question why I bothered saving the game at all.

How many saves do you have in your saves folder ? Do you have any with ver0-ver4 as extension ?

Since you're on a mac, you might be better off asking in the mac forum but at this point, I don't think it makes a difference.

I have the same problem and it seems like the only option is to completely start again. Looks like I've lost 178 hours of gameplay ☹️

Are you using oneDrive ? Did you check if you have a electronicarts\sims4 folder there ? Maybe the game is using that one

Hi. My friend tried the steps but after moving the save folder out of the game files, opening the game and closing it, the game did not generate a new "Saves" folder. I was very frustrated and initiated a backup plan, using the process on another website.

I then had her put the Saves folder from the desktop back into the game, open the game, press Play, make a sim and place them in the town. She then selected "Save and Exit". Then I had her open the game again, and her buttons were back, but the only saved file left was the one she had just created.

I told her to uninstall The Sims 4 and reinstall the game, we are awaiting the results. Is there anything that I could have done? Why didn't the game create a new Saves file?

Yes, that is the website. She quit the game (which was on the Main Menu), opened game files, put the Saves folder back into the game, and then reopened the game which led to saving-and-quitting. So to answer your question: the "Saves" folder was back in the game files when she saved.

Update on the reinstallation: This did not put her Saves Games back (I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but her New Game and Load Game buttons disappeared [and came back after the process here, however her Saves were gone]).

Let her try leaving out the file named 'slot_00000001.save'. That's the auto-save, that might be acting up.

Do you mean that she should delete that file from the Saves folder? I don't understand what you mean by leaving it out, there's not anywhere else to put it from what I know.

Okay, I will instruct her to do so. Should I have her move it back after?

Not sure if this was exactly the correct move, but I had her move the file out of her EA files and start up the game. No such luck—her old saved games are not back.
  • I am having the same issue, but my saves folder is completely empty. Any idea where the files might have gone, or why?

Unfortunately, for some reason the game did not create a new save file and I have no idea why. I did what you said: closed the game, moved my Saves folder in desktop and created new game. I did not find the new Saves folder. I am frustrated since I have 400 hours in the game that have just disappeared in a snap of fingers.
