Re: Package files are opening with notepad ... ?

You probably associated package files with the notepad by accident. There's really no reason to open those unless you want to poke around. They are not readable in notepad, that's normal. 

The game doesn't care which program you have associated with the files.

Check with the creator of the mod to see if it's still compatible with the current patch.
