Re: Re: Constant crashing after Cottage Living installation - please help!

@ForeverCamp  I've split your post into its own thread because your issue is a bit different, and also because it's easier to troubleshoot crashing issues one on one.

Anyway, if you play with mods and custom content, please test without them to see whether it makes a difference.  Move your entire Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and see what happens.  You can quit without saving if you don't want the content to be removed from your saves.

If that doesn't help, or you don't use mods or cc, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know what world(s) you're playing in.

Hi! It's no longer the urgent issue that it used to be, as I ended up going directly to the Tech Support chat with EA when I reached my breaking point and their suggestion, while it doesn't completely alleviate the issue, has at least made it as playable as possible. I've attached the DxDiag for interest's sake.

There is a dedicated graphics card in the computer, and I've repathed my game to use that rather than the onboard Intel chip listed in the DxDiag. That didn't fix the crashing issue. As I mentioned in my initial post, the crashing issues were happening even after regenerating the Sims 4 folder in its entirety and without any mods or cc, and nothing specific seemed to be triggering the crashes in-game. It was happening in multiple households across multiple worlds, in a brand-new save and an existing save. It was happening in Build mode and Live mode.

EA Tech Support suggested clearing the Origin cache, and that seems to have alleviated the worst of the crashing issue. It's now been reduced to only intermittent crashes and I can actually use the game. Hope this may help somebody else, though!

@ForeverCamp  Your 1050 ti is actually listed in the dxdiag too.  The reason the Intel chip appears first is because you've plugged the monitor into the motherboard, so the integrated chip is driving the monitor rather than the dedicated card.  You'll get better performance overall if you plug the monitor into the card.

The Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag are breakpoint errors, which could be related to the driver for your graphics card.  It's possible that the above will address it, although that would be uncommon.  If you get another crash with the monitor plugged into the 1050 ti, please install this slightly newer driver from Nvidia:

    https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/179681/en-us

When installing a driver, shut down everything else that would otherwise be running, including your antivirus.  Run it as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator," select the Custom route, and check the box to perform a clean install.  Restart your computer after the driver is installed.
