OomarcyoO Thanks, and I don't see anything obviously wrong. I would suggest you disable the EA App in-game overlay, under Settings > Application. Or if that doesn't help, and you don't need a connection to EA servers for that play session, put the App in offline mode. The overlay, or a component of it, is crashing, and you don't really need it or any connection at all other than to use the Gallery or track your progress towards the login rewards.
Hopefully you're playing with the laptop plugged in as well, but beyond that... the game is not running great for a lot of people, unfortunately. Maybe DirectX 11 mode will make a difference once it's been fine-tuned, which it looks like it's not yet.
yes my laptop is always connected to power. Setting the EA app to offline and turning off the internet didn't help. Anyway, it worked fine before the Life & Death updates. I also restored older save games before Life & Death, and the Sims froze there too. It took me a long time to figure out that it had something to do with the number of households I had. I hope this is a useful hint for EA. Most bugs are acceptable, but this one is annoying because it makes the game unplayable.
