Freezing instantly when i launch game
sims 4 is freezing instantly everytime i launch the game. ive got a DxDiag but i cant interpret it. game has been working for ages and this issue has come on suddenly, ive tried just trying to wait it out and seeing if that helps but it hasnt. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling. ive tried other solutions that ive seen on forums and none of them are working i feel so stuck i dont know what to do.Glitched Screen
loads into game and i cant even see the screen and everything that i click stays glued to it as well. on top of that sims3 wont even open... EA what are yall doing! why are both games so broken. There are so many people complaining about both games and there has yet to be a true fix to either of them. I hate the expierience that im having with EA and I just want to play my games to cope with my severe anxiety and depression. [CM edit - descriptive title and CAPS]Game will not progress past first loading screen and shows black (see image)
I recently downloaded the newest update, which I assume would be the marketplace and broken .package file update and the patch update combined, and my game has completely stopped loading. I have tried everything from clearing both EA and Sims 4 cache to updating my drivers to making a new, clean game file (it does load and can only handle a portion of non-script cc without breaking) to uninstalling and reinstalling the game twice, which is when the partial cc had originally began to work. I've attempted siphoning my mods in and out to see what causes the issue but I can't even get that far without the "cannot run because EA app needs to be open" error appearing. I did move my save, mods and tray files from my original game and attempted putting them back into the new one, but that also causes the black screen. The one or two times I did get it to sort of work, my save files were not there, and I worry they might be corrupted and I don't have anything backed up. In the new game file I made, it was borderline unplayable due to the sheer amount of lag it had, and previous to the update I had no lag issues. Occasionally the game will boot to a completely white window then force close with the "ea needs to be running" error. I have deleted all script cc and tried to remove all duplicate or recently downloaded cc. I have repaired the game multiple times through EA and it hasn't helped much from what I can tell. I have tried running a dxdiag but it does not even show the ability to run. I have also tried running EA as administrator to no use. I have attached my most recent UIException file. If it is of any use, I am on Windows 10.crashing
i just recently downloaded sims on my laptop. it ran amazing for about 2 days then it stopped working all together. i have no mods or anything just playing the plain old sims 4! i could get sims open to the loading screen where it tells you to resume game and it crashes. the laptop had no important files on it so i deleted everything and reinstalled EA and sims. it still crashes! i have tried everything i could think of please help!Experiencing FPS drops and poor performance
I'm having performance issues with The Sims 4; my FPS drops a lot, which I found very strange because I play on an Acer Nitro 5 with an i5 12450H, RTX 3050, and 24GB of RAM, so The Sims 4 should have excellent performance. Then I started noticing a few things: my laptop screen is 144Hz, and the game can't maintain a stable 144 FPS. When the game is at 144 FPS, it's fluid, but it can't stay at 144 FPS all the time; it drops below 100 FPS and starts to stutter. So I tried locking it at 60 FPS, and the performance got even worse. I found this strange because I play Resident Evil 3 Remake at 60 FPS, and the game runs wonderfully. So I concluded that The Sims 4 isn't optimized for 60 FPS on high refresh rate screens like my 144Hz screen, even when I set it to 60 FPS in the settings. Besides that... My laptop is experiencing low performance and slow gameplay, which causes it to overheat, something that doesn't happen with other games. I'm reporting this because The Sims Direct posted that they are working to optimize the performance of The Sims 4, so I'm using this report to try and help with my observations. Since most modern computer screens are 144Hz or higher, I believe that if they optimize the game to deliver 60fps like the Resident Evil 3 remake on 144Hz or higher screens, it will greatly improve the performance of The Sims 4. Edit By crinrict: Adjusted TitleExtreme Game Lag After Removing All mods & CC
I was playing offline to avoid having to update to the March 17th patch, but my game and Lenovo Ideapad 3 were both insanely slow and I figured it was my mods so I removed all of them, cleared the cache and deleted the resource.cfg, repaired the game (which updated it lol), even started a new Sims 4 file entirely. My game is still so incredibly slow without any mods or cc that it’s too difficult to play. Camera rotation is twitchy and slow, Sim animations are extremely twitchy, opening any menu takes at least 5 minutes (it was never even that slow WITH mods) and hovering over UI options is so laggy that when I click on one thing, the game thinks I’m clicking where the cursor was 2 seconds ago. If it matteres, my CPU is running at 89%-93% just on the main menu… pls help!! 😭Solved223Views0likes12CommentsPC Sims 4 constanlty freezing/crashing
Hi! So i've never really complained about this issue because even though it's happened before it normally only happens for a few days and then sorts its self out. But for the past week 1/2 my PC has been freezing after playing for about 5 minutes and I barley ever get time to save. Once it freezes you can see the mouse still kind of working and when you hover over items in Build Mode it will show you what they are but the actual screen just goes completely frozen. And most of the time it shuts down and opens me back up to the EA page. I really need help, I've done sooo many hours of googling what to do and I've tried lots of things with the casche folder thingy. But I'm a teenage girl, not a computer tech, I've spent almost 100 on this game over the years and I really don't want it to go to waste. I will take any suggestions and try my best to carry them out!! Please help meSolved117Views0likes4CommentsConstant small freezes/stuttering
Before I start, I know that there are a myriad of issues happening due to the recent update and hot fix this month (march 2026) and that everyone seems to be having a lot of issues due to cc and game launching. However, I'm not seeing much (I havent delved too deep) about people experiencing stuttering or lagging. I started a fresh save (with cc, but all updated and cleaned out anything I wasn't sure of) and in CAS I cannot even get through editing a sim because of the sharp stuttering and lag every time I scroll or go to select an option in any of the menus. I'm currently doing a repair and have removed my mods folder as well as the thumbnail cache file but I was wondering if theres a specific fix for this kind of thing. Never had any lag or stuttering issues before this update or any time in the past beyond the very occasional and fast ending lag spike when traveling, selecting a new sim or going out of 3x speed. Any help would be great and will close this discussion if the repair works. Thank you.
