Re: Scripts glitching and crashing the game.

It may be caused by outdated mods. You mentioned removing the mods folder, and resetting the Sims 4 folder. But you don't mention going through your mods folder to make sure everything is up to date with the latest patch.

Custom content can become outdated with most new game patches. If the game works when the Mods folder is removed, then one or more of the mods and/or custom content has become outdated and will need to be removed or replaced.

To fix mods and custom content try the 50/50 method:

1. Move all the mods and cc out into a temporary folder on the desktop.
2. Move a few files back at a time. Load the game to make sure it loads and everything is good.
3. Delete the localthumbcache.package from the Sims 4 folder.
4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 till there is no more files to check.

** While your testing, don't save the game. If you find any problems, delete the mod or custom content file.

I'm not using any package file in my mods folder, in other words no cc nor mods whatsoever. I remove them all. The issue still happens whenever I have a script put in "Mods". I only put one so there is no conflict issue. I tried a ton of different script file but everytime it would break my game.

I made sure other people could use the sane as me and it worked for them.

In other word... as long as I don't use a script in the Mods folder, my game is fine. I don't know why this is happening. I made sure I'm using updated script files but for some reasons my game can't support none of them anymore. I'm really clueless about the situation and wished it was just a cc or mod interferring.

Have you tried deleting the game cache and the localthumbcache.package from the Sims 4 folder to help with troubleshooting.

How to Delete Cache Files - https://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/delete-cache-files/

Or resetting the Sims 4 folder?

Move or rename your current Sims 4 folder to Sims4Backup. Launch the game and play the game.

If it's not working, don't save. However, if everything is playing okay then start putting the files back. (list of files and folders below).

    - Options.ini (User game settings)
    - Tray Folder (Sims/Houses/Commercial lots and rooms)
    - Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    - Saves folder
(leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave. It is not used anymore.)
    - Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, and makeup
    - Mods (Put these back one by one to make sure they all still work)

I'm bringing you quite an update

This didn't seem to help. I looked further into the issue and reach MCCC's discord since they seemed to be aware of the issue. I told them I played in french and apparently the issue occurs often with french versions of the game (script files not working well). I'm trying to set my game in english for now hoping that it'll work!

To make sure this wasn't a mods/cc issue I tried the following thing:

    - I sent my save file to someone and the same versions of cc and script files for them to test out.

    - they've run it vanilla/no mods no script whatsoever, run it in french and english, run it with my mods and scripted mods and it all worked for them.

If you have an idea of what might be causing this issue I'm all ready to hear about it. I was suggested something went wrong when installing my game.

Thank you for your patience and I hope to hear about this more again. I'll do my best to find out what's going on, even if i need to reinstall the game a few times, unfortunately.

It seems an uninstall/reinstall may be your best bet. With setting the game in English, since you mentioned that the French edition has problems with mods.

Hi I'm updating you on this!!

Reinstalling the whole game in english seems to ahve fixed the issue (luckily for a bilingual like me). I have no idea why but some mods developpers told me some french players encountered a similar issue upon installing scripts into their games (and it seems to only affect the frnech version so far?). Anyway, I'll try to inform the french side of EA of course. I'm not sure about other game versions yet.

Thanks for your help and attention!
