Re: Sims 4 caused boot config data missing on PC?

Thanks for the info. Would you be able to tell me what I need to do in order to fix it?

Boot on the Installation media as mentioned in the message.

Click install. It should now tell you that it has found an existing installation and ask if you want to repair it. Choose this and it will repair the BCD information (Boot Configuration Data). If not there will be another Install option. Do NOT choose this but choose the Repair option at the bottom. Go from there.

If you are not comfortable doing this yourself take it to a shop and have them do the repair.

PS. BCD has nothing to do with UEFI apart from that UEFI reads information from it to pass control of the boot process to Windows.

Thank you very much I’ll give that a try. Sorry if I seem so daft... I’m not exactly tech savvy 🤡

Hello again, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind helping me again.

I have the boot instillation media on a usb drive. When I try to reboot with the usb inserted it doesn’t take me to any other screen other then the initial blue screen. It doesn’t give me an option to access anything on the USB or run it. Do you know how I can do so?

When you boot you will most likely briefly get a message on screen telling you to press something like F12 to select boot device. Other wise you need to press the key that Enters UEFI (BIOS) where you can set which device should be the default boot device.

Like I already mentioned if you are in any way uncomfortable doing this take it to a shop and have them do the repair.
