Re: Sims 4 Laptop Options

@aambeeeer  Yes, this laptop should run Sims 4 on low-medium to medium graphics settings, depending on your play style and which packs you install.  However, you're going to need to be very careful about how much data you store on the laptop.  110-120 GB, which will be the actual capacity of the drive, is technically enough for all current Sims 4 packs, but with Windows occupying another ~25 GB, you won't have a lot left over for other files.  The Sims 4 base game is only 20 GB; the expansion packs make up most of the rest, with game packs being relatively small and stuff packs and kits even smaller.

Are you set on getting this exact computer?  If not, I can look around for other options.  I'm not sure I'd find anything better, but I'm happy to try if you'd like.  That's not to say that this is a bad option, and it's about as good as you'll see aside from the small SSD, but that small SSD might well limit how usable the laptop is over time.

I did want custom content as well. I’m not set on this computer I’m open to any suggestions that you have.

@aambeeeer  I found a few options that are better than the one you've listed in terms of their hardware, but they're all from third-party sellers on popular platforms.  I don't know how comfortable you are with this—it's usually fine, but if there's a problem with the product, returning it might take a bit more effort.

The best option I found in terms of the seller is this one shipped by Amazon, and listed as Amazon Renewed, so you should be completely covered in the unlikely event of a problem.  (The seller is also very highly rated.)  This has the same specs as the Acer you linked except for its SSD, which is twice the size of the Acer's.

This one has the same specs as the one above and is sold by a mostly but not entirely well-rated third party through Walmart:

This one comes from the same seller and is significantly better: twice the storage of the ones above, twice the RAM, and a processor and graphics chip that are the next tier up from the ones above.

The two Walmart options come in multiple colors within your budget as well.

All of these are Gateways because those were the cheapest good options I found, and really the only options worth mentioning in your price range.  I think this is because a year or two ago, Gateway tried to get back into the cheap laptop market in a serious way and flooded various retailers' sites with decent hardware priced below every competitor's offerings.  The laptops are fine, not amazing but not junk either, and a good option for people with tight budgets.

I did want to mention this laptop, as the cheapest I found on Best Buy or that's not a Gateway.  It's on sale for $280 new, for a little less than 24 hours more, and I'm seeing open-box options for a bit less, although what's available will depend on your location.  The processor and graphics chip are comparable to the ones in the Acer you linked and the first two Gateway options above.
