Re: Sims 4 screen flickering

@theonekhikita  Did you enable vertical sync and switch to windowed at the same time?  V-sync only works in fullscreen mode, so you wouldn't have seen any benefit in windowed mode.  Please try testing in fullscreen with v-sync enabled, if you haven't already.  And try separately with v-sync enabled within the game and through the built-in AMD control software.  You should be able to set up a specific profile for TS4_x64.exe.  It's best not to have any of the other settings enabled though, at least for now.

Your dxdiag also lists a number of errors of basic Windows processes, so it's a good idea to run a couple of checks of your Windows system files.  Here's how:

  • Hit Windows key-X
  • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
  • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
  • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
  • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
  • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
  • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
  • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer when you're done, and try to play.  If you still get the flickering, please test on each of your monitors separately, with the other one unplugged.

It worked!!! When I ran PowerShell Admin the first time, there were no errors. The second time I ran it to scan, it said there was a corrupted file but it was fixed.

Not sure how my files were corrupted since this is a brand new computer??

But all is working now. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

@theonekhikita  Files can corrupt for all kinds of reasons, or seemingly no reason at all.  I run DISM and sfc every couple of months or so for that very reason, just to catch small errrors before they become big ones.  It's nice that Windows has that feature built in, especially since errors can and do happen with more frequency than we probably realize.

I'm glad to hear your game is working now.
