Re: Sims 4 White Screen

I just went to get back on sims and it’s doing the same thing. The screen is white.

@mrfuzzlezz  Do you have OneDrive enabled?  If so, please either disable it entirely, or disable the automatic syncing of Documents.

@mrfuzzlezz  Please read the instructions on the page.  Under Notes, it says the .exe is the self-installing format appropriate for most users.

@puzzlezaddict It said ‘Error Message: Computer Manufacturer Graphics Driver Detected’ and it said it’s not validated for this computer after I tried.

@mrfuzzlezz  That's unfortunate.  I was hoping your laptop would allow you to install the driver from Intel because the newest one from Dell is three years old and the same version you currently have installed.  So instead, you'll need to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver using the version from Dell.  Download Display Driver Uninstaller from here:

    https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3403

Download the newest Intel graphics driver, dated February 7, 2018, from here:

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/inspiron-15-3558-laptop/drivers

Next, take your computer completely offline—disable wifi and/or pull the ethernet cord—and double-click the DDU.exe.  Take note of where the file will land, and click Extract.  If it's easier, you can copy the path and then paste it into the address bar in a File Explorer window.  Open the folder and then launch Display Driver Uninstaller.exe, and you'll get a message that you're not in Safe Mode.  Click OK, then go to Options and enable Safe Mode dialog.  Here's a screenshot of what your options should look like; make sure the box in red is checked:

Close options, and the DDU, and then open the DDU.exe again.  For launch options, choose "Safe Mode (Recommended)," and then click Reboot to Safe Mode (you'll need your password, so find it before rebooting).  Once you login, you'll see this:

In the blue box, choose GPU, then Intel if it's not already showing.  Then click Clean and Restart (red box).

Once your computer has rebooted, now back in normal mode, run the driver install .exe as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer again before trying to play.

@puzzlezaddict I haven’t been able to do that yet but I just wanted to get on my computer and see if it’ll work again and it did and I didn’t do anything..

I took out some of my mods and I thought I tried it a few days ago and apparently I didn’t because it works when I take one of my mods out. I just updated it too. Maybe it was just bad. I’ve tried exiting and reloading the game about 10 times so far and it works. Maybe that was the problem. But I don’t understand if so then why did the game not work with anything in it.

@mrfuzzlezz  It's possible you had two errors, one of which intermittent or solved later, and addressing the mods issue didn't work until the other error was resolved.  There are plenty of possibilities, but the important thing is that your game is working now.

It did it again.. Also when I try to repair sims I get an message. Sims 4 will repair but when it gets to the packs I’ll get a message saying

Your download has been paused. Origin needs to download files and is waiting for permission. Please choose ‘Yes’ when windows prompts you for permission.

Nothing pops up when I press close and the same message will pop up and the packs will load in the background but it says they have been paused.

@mrfuzzlezz  Origin is fussy about repairs, and sometimes about downloads, usually for no apparent reason.  If the repair goes through, that's what matters.  If the repair process is paused, try unpausing it.

Please let me know what, if anything, changed between the most recent time the game worked and now.  For example, did you add any files to your Sims 4 user folder, did you reenable or install an antivirus or change its settings, etc.?  If you move the Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts, does the game load again?

@puzzlezaddict It worked again about 40 minutes after my last post. No, I didn’t change anything. I only exit the game and later, when I want to play, try and open sims. I don’t add/remove or change anything.

@mrfuzzlezz  The next time the game doesn't work, please try playing while your computer is offline.  You can sign into Origin and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before launching the game.  Let me know whether it makes a difference.

@puzzlezaddictI just went to play but I went to add a few things of cc and it didn’t work but when I took them out it works..most of the time. I guess as long as I don’t add anything else I may be fine for now. I also have my WiFi off and it didn’t change anything except for origin wouldn’t load.

@mrfuzzlezz  The custom content might be broken, or there might be something else going on.  (For example, if you happened to have your Sims 4 data on an external drive, the format of that drive might not work well with .package files.)  When trying to play offline, you can sign into Origin first, while still online, then disconnect the internet.  But if it didn't help, it's a moot point.
