Re: Sims 4 won't launch after Growing Together

@Sibilla2334  Please let the EA App (try to) download the pack, then run the search I mentioned.  I'd like to see whether the Growing Together data is actually downloading, and if so, where it lands.

@puzzlezaddict In the EA App it says that Growing Together is complete downloading, but it does not seem to be downloaded to my PC anywhere in any folder. Again I might be wrong, but whenever I search for the file, it is nowhere to be found. Do you know where the packs are downloaded normally?

@Sibilla2334  The packs are normally downloaded into [install path]\The Sims 4.  If you didn't change the default location in Origin or the EA App, the full file path would be one of these:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4

    C:\Program files\EA Games\The Sims 4

However, the entire point is that the pack isn't downloading into the correct location, so it doesn't make much sense to look there.  When you searched, did you click "This PC" first?  Not doing so could restrict the search to Quick Access or whatever is already open in File Explorer.  Additionally, there should be at least one EP13 folder even without Growing Together installed: the Delta folder that holds patch data should be present in any fully-updated game.  (This is true even for people who don't own the pack.)  So if you didn't at least find that, the search wasn't complete.

I found this all of a sudden. This is the pack, right?

@puzzlezaddict Sorry to bother you again, but i followed the steps and still don't have any of the growing together content. I might have done something wrong though.

@Sibilla2334  Did you remove the CAS Demo, or did you simply copy over the folder for Growing Together?  If the latter, please delete the folder you moved, delete or rename the CAS Demo folder (remove "Sims 4" from its name), and try again to install the expansion.

If you get an error when trying to rename or delete the CAS Demo folder, make sure the EA App is closed, then go into the Task Manager and kill the EABackgroundService.

@puzzlezaddict Now, the pop/up with "Pack download in process" comes up in the main menu. The pack seems to be at the right place though.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you. I did and the "Pack download in process", still shows up. If it helps the download option for growing together shows up quite frequently too, like it never truly downloads.

@Sibilla2334  Please run another search for EP13 and post the results.  It sounds like the pack either didn't download at all, somehow, or it's still downloading to the wrong location.

@puzzlezaddictYeah, it seems that whenever I clear the EA app's cache, the pack goes under "downloadable packs".

Searched for EP13 and this is what comes up.

@Sibilla2334  Your EP13 folder is inside the Sims 4 user folder.  Hopefully this isn't also where Sims 4 itself is installed, but I can't be sure from the screenshot.

At any rate, delete this EP13 folder, restart your computer, and without downloading anything, find the install location for the game.  Open your EA App library, click Sims 4, and select Manage > View properties, and you'll see it there:

I deleted the EP13 folder, and restarted the computer. This is my install location for the game.

@Sibilla2334  Alright, just to be on the safe side, please go into Documents > Electronic Arts and rename the Sims 4 folder inside.  Then try again to download Growing Together.  If the EA App thinks it's downloaded, open the install location in your newest screenshot and check for an EP13 folder inside.  If it's there, rename the folder inside Electronic Arts back to "The Sims 4" and see whether the pack loads properly.

It seems that there are two The Sims 4 folders, one located in a folder called Origin Games, and the other in Electronic Arts. I think all my current add-ons are in the Origin Games one. Do you know if this has anything to do with my issue?

@Sibilla2334  The Sims 4 folder in Electronic Arts holds your saves and other user data and is always going to be separate from the game's program files.  The point here is to make sure that the EA App installs Growing Together into the correct folder.  It should ignore the Sims 4 folder inside Electronic Arts, but the App can get confused sometimes, and temporarily renaming that folder ensures that the App ignores it for this purpose.
