I have tried doing the things you mentioned before, I even deleted the whole sims 4 folder and let the game generate a new one but there is still a little bit of a pie menu lag. Here is my dxdiag.
@tiffsims11 Your C drive has very little free space, which can cause all kinds of system issues, some of which may look like game issues. So please clear another 18 GB or so, for a total of 25 free. (You can see the total by opening a File Explorer window and clicking This PC in the left panel.) Empty the recycle bin if you haven't already; the Downloads folder is another good place to look for extraneous files.
Restart your computer after deleting the files and before trying to play. If you still have some lag, try playing in a clean boot:
The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run. Disable the rest as described.
When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled. If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.
Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.
This isn't necessarily a good long-term fix, but it is helpful for diagnostic purposes, so let me know whether it helps and we can for from there.
I freed up some space on my pc, leaving about 44 gb of free space. I also did the clean boot as explained and it actually seemed to help, laptops and computers are still a little laggy but for the most part it did help.
@TiffSims04 That sounds like part or most of the issue is caused by running other apps or services at the same time as Sims 4. You can selectively reenable the services in the same way you disabled them for the clean boot, then see how Sims 4 is affected.
It's likely that only one or two services are contributing to the lag, for example perhaps an app like Discord (or its overlay) is hogging resources, or maybe some Dell support software. I'd leave those for last, testing everything else first so you get a sense of how Sims 4 runs with most of the background services enabled too. Then add back the Dell apps one at a time, then apps you either use often or have set to open with Windows, e.g. Discord, a music player, etc.
I'm a little stuck on this step, I'm not sure what to disable and what not to disable. I'm not sure how else to explain it other than I'm confused. Am I supposed to keep track of what has been disabled and then narrow it down from there?
