Re: Unable to install Sims 4 using Origin

@PoisonSoda3408  First, disable automatic game updates in Origin.  Hover over your username, select Application Settings, and under Application (the first header), scroll down to Client update to see the option.

From now on, always run Origin as an administrator: right-click on the Origin shortcut and select "Run as administrator."  This will help with permissions issues, if there are any.

Clear Origin's cache again, restart your computer, and open Origin, at which point it will hopefully not try to download anything.  Right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and see whether you have any more options.  If you can Repair, do so.  Otherwise, open a File Explorer window and figure out where the Sims 4 program files, or at least what's left of them, are located.

The first place to look is This PC > Program files (x86)\Origin Games, which is Origin's default install path.  If you don't see them there, search for Sims 4 on your computer, and find the folder that has subfolders like Data, Delta, Game, etc.  This is not the user data folder, with the saves, Tray, Mods, etc. folders inside.  If you're not sure what you're looking at, feel free to take a screenshot or two for confirmation.

Once you know where the program files are, go back to Origin and right-click on the Sims 4 icon again.  (If you tried to repair and it failed, clear Origin's cache and restart first.)  If you can Locate Game, click on that, and navigate to where you found the game's program files.  If you see a Download button, click that, but make sure the location it's downloading to exactly matches the current location of the program files—in this case, Origin should download only the missing files and then verify everything.

If none of these approaches work, the only other option is to manually delete the Sims 4 program files and redownload them from scratch.  If you still get an error, try downloading to a different location, e.g. make a folder in Program fles (x86) called "Sims Install" or something (just not Sims 4) and tell Origin to download to there.

@puzzlezaddict When I deleted the Sims 4 program files and redownloaded them, it worked! I can access my game now and all my saved households. Thank you so much for your help, I would not have been able to figure it out without you. 🙂
