Re: Unable to navigate mouse in game.

I did all of that and the problem was still occurring with everything disabled.

@kfrenchie_0401_  Are you using the touchpad, a mouse, or both?  If only one, does the problem happen with the other?  If you don't have a mouse to test with, it would be a useful test to borrow one.

I usually only use the touchpad, but I tried using a wireless mouse and it is occurring with that as well.

My laptop is a 2-in-1 so it has a touchscreen as well. Could that make a difference?

@kfrenchie_0401_  Please try both fullscreen and windowed mode with the touchscreen disabled, if you haven't already.  If that doesn't or didn't help, try changing your DPI scaling to 96 (100%).  Here's how:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/change-display-dpi-scaling-level-in-windows-11.934/

Even if you don't like how the desktop looks, it's a useful test.

If that doesn't help, please open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Default graphics settings, and change all the settings here, one at a time.  I'm not sure how many settings are present because it varies a bit, from what I hear (I don't have Windows 11), but any of them could be a problem.

I did try both modes and they did not work.

I only had two graphics settings and changing those did not work either.

I uninstalled the game so I could reinstall pack by pack and when I installed just the base game, I played for about 10 minutes and had no issues. I reinstalled one pack (Outdoor Retreat) and it happened again within a minute of opening my save.

@kfrenchie_0401_  Try doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of your laptop's graphics driver.  Here's how:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

Use the newest-available driver from Lenovo, which is new enough that it should still be fine:

    https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-7-2-in-1-16ahp9/83dm/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Graphics%20Card&id=417FF180-3E19-4905-B85C-2701D4E341AF

In the future, you can disable packs rather than uninstalling them if you want.  Here's how:

I did that and it did not work either. I also had a windows update that included something for the graphics card, so I tried that first and it did not help.

Thank you for the information on disabling packs!

@kfrenchie_0401_  Do you see a multiple displays/monitors setting anywhere under Windows Settings > System > Display?  A couple of users have mentioned it in relation to a different problem, in that disabling it fixes the issue.  I don't know where this setting is because my Windows 10 installs don't have it, and no one has gotten back to me yet, but since we do know that this setting isn't getting along with Sims 4, it's worth disabling here too.

Aside from that, the only other suggestion I can think of at the moment is playing in DirectX 9 mode.  There's a check box with the other graphics settings, in the lower-right corner.

If that doesn't help, I'll keep working on this issue.  I do have one other thread from someone with the same problem on the same computer, and maybe I'll merge theirs and yours in a bit (once you've both seen the most recent posts, because merging creates a bit of a mess).  So there's clearly some kind of pattern; I just haven't found it yet.

If you want to experiment a bit more, some Lenovo software may have been active in the clean boot and interfering with Sims 4.  Not having a Lenovo laptop, let alone this model, I can't begin to speculate, other than saying that most laptops come with lots of proprietary software.  As mentioned, you can always kill something in the Task Manager without worrying—at worst, you'll need to reboot your laptop.  So if you see anything suspicious, or even seemingly innocuous but not clearly critical, shut it down and see what happens.
