I would have thought that if one family unlocked it, it means I as a player have unlocked the item, and thus I can use it for any families I play with. But apparantly it only unlocks for the specific family. Is it possible to add something like this as an option? Achievement unlocks for achiever / all families? Something like that?
OK, so I misunderstood you ? It unlocks if your Sim that has unlocked them moves but not other families ?

That is exactly what I meant. It unlocks for that family, but I want to be able to unlock everything (maximising all careers one by one) so that I can continue playing with anything that my sims can buy. And ofcourse I can use the cheat, but to me if I unlock it all legit I want it to STAY unlocked. I'm going to post it as a suggestion at the place of your link. Thank you for your help!

The topic gets a lot of responses, apparantly I'm not the only one who has an opinion about the locked items. I would invite everyone that has something to add to reply to the thread as well, to maximise the chance of it actually being picked up!
