Re: Very slow load and laggy gameplay

@LJWade88  The type of Sims 4 error in your dxdiag is most often related to the graphics driver, although it can have other causes.  Just to be thorough, please make sure the game is using your dedicated card.  Go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, open the file labeled config.log, and look about 30 lines down; you'll see either your Nvidia 1650 or your Intel chip listed.  If the game is using the Intel chip, stop here and let me know.

Otherwise, you'll need to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the Nvidia graphics driver, since you already have the newest version installed.  Download Display Driver Uninstaller from here:

https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3430

I think you should be able to install the newest driver from Nvidia, since that's the version listed in your dxdiag:

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/170313/en-us

Just in case though, please also download the newest driver HP offers.  Go here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops

Enter your laptop's serial number, choose your operating system if necessary, and you'll land on the driver download page.  Under Driver-Graphics, grab the newest Nvidia driver by date.  If you later can't install the one you downloaded from Nvidia, install this one instead.

Next, take your computer completely offline—disable wifi and/or pull the ethernet cord—and double-click the DDU.exe.  Take note of where the file will land, and click Extract.  If it's easier, you can copy the path and then paste it into the address bar in a File Explorer window.  Open the folder and then launch Display Driver Uninstaller.exe, and you'll get a message that you're not in Safe Mode.  Click OK, then go to Options and enable Safe Mode dialog.  Here's a screenshot of what your options should look like; make sure the box in red is checked:

Close options, and the DDU, and then open the DDU.exe again.  For launch options, choose "Safe Mode (Recommended)," and then click Reboot to Safe Mode (you'll need your password, so find it before rebooting).  Once you login, you'll see this:

In the blue box, choose GPU, then Nvidia if it's not already showing.  Then click Clean and Restart (red box).

Once your computer has rebooted, now back in normal mode, run the driver install .exe in custom mode.  Select "perform a clean installation" and install ONLY the GPU driver and the PHYSX software.

Reboot again, go back online, and see whether the game works normally.  If not, let me know.

@puzzlezaddict Hi, thank you so much for the help but it's still not improved after that. If there is anything else you think I should try I'd be really grateful

@LJWade88  Try putting Origin in offline mode before you launch the game.  For a few people, Origin takes up too much of the processor's resources, and offline mode stops it.

If that doesn't help, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes.  You'll see a list of errors and updates, with a column for each day.  (Today is all the way on the right.)

For any errors that mention Origin or Sims 4 from after you reinstalled the graphics driver, click "View technical details," then copy the information and paste it into a reply here.  Sometimes the Reliability Monitor doesn't update right away, so if you don't see any related errors, be sure to check back an hour or two.  The timestamp on the initial chart can also be off by up to an hour, so that's not an entirely reliable metric, but the one within the technical details should be accurate.

@LJWade88  The last error you posted is the same as most of the others in your dxdiag, and I was hoping uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics driver would help.  There's also an error that might be related to fullscren optimization mode, although that's not normally an issue.  Still, the setting affects graphics rendering, so try disabling it.

Right-click on the TS4_x64.exe shortcut, or on the original if you don't have a desktop shortcut, and select Properties, then the Compatibilty tab, and check the box to disable fullscreen optimization.  Click OK to save the change.  You can always undo the setting if it makes things worse.

If that doesn't help, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Origin:

    • Quit Origin, then right-click on the Task Bar and open the Task Manager.  Scroll through looking for Origin entries.  If you find any, click on them and End Task.
    • Clear Origin's cache.
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Origin from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • When it finishes uninstalling, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • If Revo finds any remaining registry entries, select all, delete, and click Next.
    • Revo will display "Remaining Data and Folders."  Select all of them except for the "Origin Games" folder, if it appears.  (This is where Sims 4 and other Origin games are installed by default.)  Delete the rest.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Next, download the full Origin installer and run it.  Here's the direct download link:

    http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe

Be sure to run both the installer and Origin itself as an admin: right-click on each and select "Run as Administrator."  For good measure, repair Sims 4 as well before playing: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.
