Re: What computer is best for the Sims 4 including packs, mods, and cc?

Hi!
I was just wondering what your favourite laptops are? I'm in Sweden and the budget is probably around 1500 EU but I'd prefer to keep it around ten if possible : )
Thank you in advance!

@hannaimarocko  I don't really have a favorite laptop, and the "best" option is heavily dependent on what's available in a given region.  For example, a particular configuration might be a fantastic deal at 900€ but not worth 1200€ at all.

In terms of build quality, the Lenovo Legion has been among the best in the "budget" category, as in, not a premium-tier laptop with a premium price, for a few years.  But that's not relevant if Legions are expensive where you are.  Other very good options are the HP Victus, some Asus ROG options, and certain Dell models.  The Victus line is relatively new and has always been good so far, and the 14" Asus ROG Strix models have been excellent; for others, I check the review for that particular configuration to be sure.

In terms of the hardware you might want in your budget range, I'd recommend an Nvidia RTX 3060 and 16 GB RAM.  It's nice but nowhere close to necessary to have a 1 TB SSD; 500 GB is far more than you could ever use for Sims 4.  The processors paired with the RTX 3060 will be more than fast enough to keep up.  AMD CPUs run a bit cooler than Intel models right now in case you're worried about cooling, but an Intel model wouldn't be a deal-breaker.

Sims 4 can't use any more power than a 3060, so going higher than that is a waste of money unless you're planning on playing other games too.  I'd absolutely stay away from Intel graphics cards for at least one more generation.  AMD GPUs are great in general, but every once in a while, Sims 4 has a random problem with these cards or their driver that doesn't get resolved right away.  Since it's easier to find an Nvidia card anyway, I'd say that's the better option unless there's a significant price difference.

If you find a specific laptop you like and want a second opinion, feel free to link it.  Or if you prefer, link a few sites where you're comfortable shopping and I'll take a look.  The language barrier isn't a problem—all the important information is easy enough to find on pretty much any site.

YOU ARE A TRUE HERO MY FRIEND! The most useful advice I've gotten after searching everywhere, thank you for the SPOT-ON recommendations.

  • Also, i'm looking into the Hp Victus Gaming Laptop 15t RTX 4050, 16GB RAM (Customized). Graphics might be overkill, but why not. I have a good amount of packs, custom content, and mods installed as well. If anyone wants an update on how it runs, let me know.

@Tayleeu  You're welcome, and it sounds like you're about to get a great laptop for Sims 4, and in general.

I would definitely like a report on how the game runs once you've installed it.  Even if I think it should run flawlessly, hard data is always appreciated.
