@ClaireB497  Please link the exact laptops you're considering buying, either the product pages or something else that lists the full specs.  For the HPs, I can probably find the right specs from the product IDs, but I'd rather be sure, and there are too many Lenovo Ideapad 3i models to say anything useful about that option.

I’m trying to find the best laptop under £550 to play the sims on, but I’m just a bit confused on what’s the best out there as they seem a bit similar.

@puzzlezaddict thanks for the advice. I was able to up my budget to £800 just so I could get a better laptop for long term. I’ve been searching online and I’ve managed to narrow it down for the specifications that I want to these 6 below:

which one in your opinion do you think is best to buy for the sims 4 and overall usage.

@ClaireB497  For overall usage, these laptops are pretty close.  I haven't looked into battery life because that's difficult to tell just from specs: one laptop might have a larger-capacity battery than another but also use more power at idle due to manufacturer tuning.  And the product pages can't be trusted either.

For the screen quality, the OLED panel is going to be the prettiest, but the others will look fine.  If you're worried about this, go to a store and have a look at similar laptops.  Each manufacturer will only have a limited number of screens to put in various laptops, so you could probably find the exact same screen, if not precisely the same configuration, on display for any given model.

In terms of performance, the model with the Nvidia MX550 (third link) is the clear winner.  This is the only laptop with a dedicated graphics card, and it's about 70% faster in gaming, on average, than the graphics chip in the i7-1165G7 and maybe 60% faster than the chip in the R7 5800H and 5825U.  A non-MX variant would be even faster, but then you'd be looking at bulkier gaming laptops, at least in the same price range.  The MX550 should be able to handle at least a mix of high and ultra graphics settings, if not ultra, when running Sims 4.

@ClaireB497  These are all going to be faster than the laptop with the MX550.  The 3050 is around 35% faster in gaming than the 2050, which is actually not really any better than the 1650, at least when it comes to games.  They're maybe 40% faster than the MX550.

Having said all that, if you prefer one of the non-gaming laptops for other reasons, those are also worthwhile purchases.  More performance is great to have, but it doesn't need to be the only criterion here.  I would certainly tell you if I thought you were wasting your money, either because the laptop wouldn't do what you hoped or it was unreasonably expensive for its hardware, but that's not the case with any of these options.  At this point, you have a handful of good choices and can consider performance as one of however many factors matter to you.
