I recently upgraded to an NVIDIA RTX 4070, but The Sims 4 does not recognize it and lists it as an “unrecognized video card” in the Config.log.
Because of this, the game seems to be defaulting to its integrated/low-power GPU instead of my RTX 4070, which is causing major lag and poor performance even on lower settings.
The game still runs, but it defaults to medium settings unless I manually change them. I have tried:
- Editing GraphicsCards.sgr to add my card’s Device ID
- Placing the edited file in ConfigOverride
Nothing worked, the card is still shown as unrecognized.
Could you please update the GraphicsCards.sgr database in a future patch so that RTX 40-series cards (especially the 4070 series) are properly detected?

I have RTX 5060 and my game doesn't have audio. I've literally tried everything...

Yeah, it’s kinda wild that we’re running into these issues with newer GPUs. The Sims 4 is such a light game by today’s standards, stuff like this really shouldn’t be happening

Hello, I have the same graphics card and I have been troubleshooting for days now. I am on the step of editing the GraphicsCards.sgr file as well, but I guess it wont matter until they update their game database. So frustrating when the game keeps crashing. I thought It was mods until I got a graphics card error msg and I've been troubleshooting this issue for a while. I have also played with no issues on this computer and older computers before, so this is crazy.
