Recorded video doesn't show up in video station inventory

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.48.94.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All games except Backyard stuff, romantic stuff, cool kitchen and spooky
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When my sim records a video at the video station, it doesn't show up in the inventory
What happens when the bug occurs? After my sim is done recording the video and I look in the video inventory, it is not there
What do you expect to see? To have the video he just recorded to be in the inventory so he can edit it/post it
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Thanks, Crinrict! I am actually not talking about the drone, but rather the video station itself. If you put a video station on a community lot and try to record a vlog, or a beauty review, or any of the other directly-into-the-video-station videos, they do not appear in the video station's inventory; it just remains permanently empty. Similarly, if you try to transfer videos from the drone to a video station on a community lot, you will just get a message saying this can't be done and you need to go home. Essentially, while you can SHOOT videos anywhere using the drone, you cannot edit or upload them at all unless you have a video station on your home lot, because the video station itself does not work on community lots. I would love for this to be fixed, because video stations often don't make sense at home (think dorms, tiny houses, small apartments), and I would very much like to use them on the career-focused community lots I build (fashion studios, conservationist research stations, university tech centers etc) where they would make excellent supplements if they actually worked. Plus I, like many simmers, often have business owners live above their businesses with their official home lot just an empty lot as a workaround. These sims cannot even have working video stations at their homes, because their homes are technically retail lots /vet clinics / restaurants, and to have them upload videos would break immersion as all they would have is a video station in the middle of an empty lot. You see why I want this fixed.

@rachelwolfe Probably best if you create your own thread in the bug forum then. They have fixed issues with the video station in the last patch (?) and this thread is from 2019.

Also the OP isn't talking about community lots (someone else was but they probably should have made their own thread at the time)

Can't say if that's on purpose or not but if you make a bug report on this specifically, EA can let us know if it's by design.

Since the Sim doesn't own the video station I'm leaning towards a design choice though although I think you shouldn't be able to record in the first place if that was the case.

    EDIT

.. for me the video actually appears in the video station inventory now that I also tested this. Am I still misunderstanding this ?

Thanks a lot for this, Crinrict! Could you give me some specifics about the time that it worked for you? What kind of community lot were you on? Because when I saw your screenshot, I went and tested it on a retail lot (not owned) and I no longer even have the "Open" option when I click on the video station (I tried to get a screenshot, but the screenshot edited out the UI). Admittedly, the test I just ran was after the patch upload, so the patch may have changed the terms on this completely. (Just FYI, mods were still disabled when I ran the test).

  • I'm also having this problem, there's not even the inventory or the option to edit after I filmed the first video, it just looks like I haven't filmed anything on it.

  • @crinrict Thank you for following up! It was on a residential lot, currently no mods and some light cc in my game. After I posted and read some more comments, I bought a new video station, recorded another video, and then I was able to view both videos in the video inventory.
