Have you tried temporarily removing all mods from the mods folder? Sometimes a broken or outdated mod can cause issues with the game even launching, and EA app will display an error message.
It's worth taking out the mods folder and seeing if the game launches properly without it. Then you will know if you need to sort your mods and find if any need updates.
