ROG Ally joystick drift

ROG Ally Extreme Z1. All software updated. Only happens in Sims 4. Game is installed through Steam, not EA app. Going to switch the installation over to EA app to see if it resolved the bug, will update this post if anything changes. Reporting bug with Asus ROG Ally crew if I can. Setting joystick dead zone radius resolves the issue, but if the player does anything outside the currently running game the drift returns. Resetting joystick dead zone fixes the problem intermittently, it fails as often as it succeeds. Restarting the game also has intermittent succes rate. Restarting the handheld PC is a last resort which seems to work, first time I've had to fully restart the device rather than restarting the Armoury Crate application or the game.

Pulling up the virtual keyboard kills the dead zone operation and drift returns. Screenshot brings back the drift. Opening the shortcut settings menu brings back the drift. Leaving the currently running game in any way brings back the drift. Pasting this same report to Asus ROG Ally team if they have a bug submission path.

  • YoGoldfish  Thanks for the thorough report.  I don't think I have any other suggestions, and I don't know of anyone else who helps on this site and has an Ally, or a handheld gaming PC in general.  I'll flag your post to EA people so they're aware and merge any other posts about the same issue here.
