It wont load at all on either launchers
every time I try to load it, it would run in the background ( I saw on my task manager) and it would take me back to my windows screen or it would load and it would freeze. The music would play in the background but I can’t click anything. I tried to load it on all launchers steam,EA but would do the same thing. Both my driver and computer are up to date.Issues with Symlinks
My computer does not have very much storage space whatsoever, and the Sims eats up most of it. I've recently purchased an external hard drive for some extra space, and was hoping to, at least partially, transfer some Sims files over, as it has three times the storage space of my laptop. However, this didn't seem possible without uninstalling, which I am entirely unwilling to do. I learned about symbolic links and thought they would suit my needs, so I went ahead and installed Link Shell Extension to make it simpler to set one up. While establishing the symlink was very simple, the game seems to refuse to run with a symlink in its folder. The folder I was symlinking to was my (exceedingly large) Mods folder, stored on an external hard drive. Typically, watching Task Manager, when I run the game from Steam, it starts up as a background process, taking up a large chunk of processing power (as is typical) before petering out very quickly and using only about 0.5% of my memory. The game itself does not run during this process whatsoever, and after about five minutes, it serves me an error about missing game data (although once it said it failed to initialize my video card?) and closes. I've tried setting up symlinks, junctions, symlink clones, smart copies, smart mirrors, DeLorean clones, and even tried to manually establish a symlink through CMD, which invariably tells me "Cannot create a file when that file already exists." I've tried it with both an empty Mods folder in the Sims 4 folder and no mods folder whatsoever, I've tried establishing the link inside the new Mods folder. I then moved on to attempting to move the entire Sims 4 folder to the external hard drive, which serves similar errors. At one point, I accidentally created a link to an empty folder, and the game created entirely new files, but otherwise, it just refuses to run. Everyone else who I see online seems to be able to run the Sims 4 perfectly fine in the presence of a symlink, but mine refuses to take them, and I have no idea why. I feel like I've tried pretty much everything.Older packs unavailable in game after bundle purchase
Platform: PC-Steam Any mods or cc installed: Yes, but no script mods Game version: 1.121.372.1020 DX11 I purchased the Sims 4 DLC bundle on Steam today, and now every DLC I purchased before today [March 2] is greyed out on the pack selection menu with a "This pack is currently unavailable." It shows that the packs are owned on the Store tab in game, but I am constantly met with a "Restart to Use" prompt. All of my DLC was purchased through Steam, and both the EA app and Steam itself show that the packs are installed and registered to the EA and Steam accounts. The affected packs are (all purchased through Steam): Seasons (Purchased Jul 30, 2021) Desert Luxe (Purchased Jul 30, 2021) Parenthood (Purchased Feb 11, 2022) Cottage Living (Purchased Feb 11, 2022) Laundry Day (Purchased Feb 16, 2022) Island Living (Purchased Feb 16, 2022) Backyard Stuff (Purchased Feb 16, 2022) Tiny Living (Purchased Feb 18, 2022) Get To Work (Purchased Feb 18, 2022) Bust The Dust (Purchased Feb 18, 2022) Blooming Rooms (Purchased Feb 18, 2022) Get Famous (Purchased Apr 10, 2024) I feel like I have tried everything at this point. I restarted my PC, I reinstalled all the DLC packs, I reinstalled the Sims 4, I uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App, I've looked for the CAS Demo (I don't have it), I've deleted the usersettings.ini file, I've manually gone through the files to look for duplicates of the DLCs, I've verified file integrity on Steam, I've contacted both EA Support and Steam Support and the responses from both of them have been "Not our problem, go to the other guy, it's their fault". This is getting to be incredibly frustrating now.321Views0likes10CommentsGame freezes & icons duplicate
My CAS works just fine; it's my live mode and (partially) build mode that are the issue. When I open live mode, it usually works okay for the first thirty seconds, but pretty much as soon as I move my screen or zoom out, the game temporarily freezes, and icons (such as thought bubbles & the "go here" option thingy) freeze in place, and more freezes are created when the sim moves. Usually, at this point, the screen goes grey. I have removed all of my CC, repaired the game through Steam, and even created a new save file, and nothing has worked in the least. I would like to know how to repair this, as it genuinely makes the game unplayable. I've attached a screenshot of my issue. I am also on an ACER laptop with plenty of storage, and this has been happening for months now. My laptop runs on Windows 11. Edit: The issue has been fixed, and all I did was switch my graphics quality from low to high, then back to low. I was treating my new computer like my old computer, and I guess it took offense to that.DLCs not working right
I don't know how to fix this, and I have tried everything I have found. For context, I installed The Sims 4 on steam, but installed the packs using EA, I don't know what it is that's causing the issue, here are some screenshots of the problem I'm having, I don't know what to do at the momentSolvedMemory full..
Sul Sul! I'm having some issues with memory on my laptop - which is solely used to play TS4.. I have all add-ons (packs / kits / expansions) and so the memory is now full. I went for a higher spec but alas, I am defeated! Is there a way to play with all add-ons without having them all installed on my laptop? ie can I use Steam / Origin or anything similar to play through an app rather than installing? Apologies, new to the technical side even though I've played 20+ years (and don't wish to purchase another laptop) Thanks!crash get to work
So I followed all your instructions and Im certain this is not my fault but the games code. Ever since I bought get to work I have experienced game crashes every other loading screen. My game is now unplayable. I have tried anything you can think of. I have removed all my mods, deleted the sims 4 folder in my documents and let the game make a new one, repeaired the game on steam, started a new save and all these COMBINED I even went back to DX9. NOTHING will stop the game from randomly crashing after a loding screen to the point I have to save every 3 minutes now. Before I intstalled get to work I NEVER crashed and I have 400h in the game. Could it be the aliens are bugged? Cause my first crash was even during the cas section of making an alien in my family.
