Selling Sims 4 preowned is LEGAL - but EA won't do it?!

Hi

So I sold my copy of Sims 4 on eBay, with the full intention of never using it again, as I no longer had the physical disc.

According to European Law - http://www.linklaters.com/Insights/Publication1403Newsletter/TMT-News-November-2012/Pages/EU-Used-Soft-Oracle-ECJ-approves-sale-used-software.aspx and the case of UsedSoft GmbH v Oracle International Corp (C-128/11) it is perfectly LEGAL to sell second hand software and licences within the EU.

The rules stipulate that the copy but be rendered UNUSABLE on the first account, which I am happy to do by deleting my account.

So I spoke to EA Live chat, who said that EA would do it. They said I had to call the support though. I called the support  line and they said they can't on a technical issue of "creating a code".

This is EA purposely obstructing my rights to sell goods I purchased. I would like a resolution please.

Thank you.

@pugbake2016x You have to abide by the terms of the eula (end user license agreement that nobody reads) that you agreed to when you started the game for the first time. The issue here is you don't own the software - you are licensed to use the software according to the TOS (terms of service). If you give the new owner your Origin account with your email and password changed and the new person can change the email and password should work as at this point the code is locked to that account.
