sim stuck in "move house" mode, can't go back to own home

i am quite frustrated. i've only had sims for a few hours now and i thought "you know what? i'm gonna have her travel around and explore" but somehow i was brought to a page to move house?

and i just spent the first hours of owning the game making a pretty little house and now i can't go to it anymore? and i can't seem to be able to cancel the action of moving either, neither do i know how to start up the game from an earlier point of saving it ☹️ i'd be quite upset if my cute little home couldn't be saved

    Thanks @treeriam.

    You can try @jpkarlsen's suggestion (thanks jpkarlsen!) and load another save game using the Load button in the main menu. But please, before doing anything, create a backup of your saves, just in case. To do so:

    1. Go to Documents \ Electronic Arts \ The Sims 4
    2. Copy saves folder to a safe location (your desktop, for example).

    If there's not another save game to load or you don't see a load button, then: place Parker household in any lot, save the game, exit, open the game again and you should see the load button.

    Let us know if you have any questions. If you are not sure about which save game to load, share with us an screenshot with the window that appears when you press load button in the main menu and we will help you 😉

    there is, sadly, neither an x-button nor anything is canceled when i press esc (i could only exit to the main menu or exit the game altogether but when i come back to it, it's still in the moving mode)

    There are two X on the move screen. In the top center and the bottom left corner. In both places it says "Moving with: yourhouseholdname".

    oh, sure!! this is the whole screen, sadly, no x-buttons

    I can see that something has gone wrong. You must exit the game and when you start the Sims 4 again instead of selecting Play use the Load Game button and select another save. There will probably be an autosave from just before you selected to Move household.

    hello!! glad to tell you, that i've successfully bought and resold a new plot, was able to move back into the usual home (i had to manually restore the furniture but that's fine) and now everything seems to be working, including buttons appearing that haven't been there before. thanks for your help and for your patience with me haha
