This is a bug, we shouldn't have to do so many different things just to play, it needs to be fixed. That's too much effort to do this multiple times in creation mode just to start playing the darn game. 20 times on 3 characters is too much.It's the only suggestions I have for you.
It's been forwarded to EA but until it's fixed there's only the workarounds that seem to help some people.
Along with this recent update, I now not only cannot create new sims but cannot play IN game, as it does not allow me to click on anything upon entering the game.
