Sims 4 - the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)

@mazzajp20  For Sims Medieval, MSVCP100.dll is part of the 2010 VC++ runtimes, which are standalone: the newer runtimes don't replace them.  So please manually install the x86 version from here:

You can skip the other two versions.  Restart your computer after installing.  Additionally, you'll need to use the Alder Lake workaround for TSM; google the patch and "Lazy Duchess," and look for a download on Mod the Sims.

For Sims 4, pleas manually install the 2022 VC++ runtimes, both x86 and x64:

You can skip the ARM version.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

All of the errors in your dxdiag are crashes of the Sims Medieval launcher, so there's no relevant information about Sims 4.  That could be because the problem isn't a proper crash, but either way, I'd like more information.  So please try to launch Sims 4 again, then look for a corresponding error in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to launch Sims 4, specifically after installing the 2022 VC++ runtimes.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so: the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.  If you still don't see anything, let me know—that's also useful information.

Hi @puzzlezaddict thank so much for your reply and I'm sorry for the delay I was on vacation since I wrote the first message now back to reality.

I followed all your indications but I haven't got any result... unfortunately.

With the Sims Medieval, I already had the AlderLake tool and in fact it was the one I used for the Sims 3 but with the Sims Medieval I have no results. When I double click on the icon, nothing happens. And if I go to the path where the game is installed and double click on the TSM.exe I get this new error I am sharing the screenshoot (I downloaded and installed and then restarted what you left me in the link).

With The Sims 4, neither, I have no success. It seems that I already had installed the latest C++ because I have googled so much before to solve these problems... I'm sure I must have thousands of versions of C++... I don't know, I don't understand anything. I did what you asked me to do with the windows key + R but I don't see anything related to the Sims 4 there....

Please tell me if you need any other information. Grateful for your help.

@mazzajp20  Please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files.  Here's how:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

For Sims 4, if the above doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account, and don't download or move over any files from your main account.  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything.

If that doesn't help either, please let me know what antivirus you use.

Try playing Sims Medieval again after running DISM and sfc.  But if that doesn't make a difference, I don't know enough about the game to help further.  So please create a new thread in the Other Sims Games forum:

Include a dxdiag, plus open the Reliability Monitor, right-click one of the TSM errors and select "View technical details," and post a screenshot of the technical details.  The overall view you've posted here doesn't have any relevant information other than that the game is crashing.

I am sharing all the screenshoots with you so you can see them. If I go to updates aparently there is one Windows update that I'm trying to install but it gives me an error as well, I don't know if that is related with the Sims.

I don't know what else I can do... I'll open a new thread in that link.

It's frustraing since I bought this new laptop only for the Sims...

The antivirus is McAfee.

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but look at the amount of C++ I have... it's because while googling I installed plenty of those trying to find out a solution..

I uninstalled Sims Medieval and after installing it again, miraculously the launcher appeared BUT with a new error when clicking in play!!! OMG ☹️

@mazzajp20  For the failed update, does it persist if you restart your computer and try again?  You'd need to let that run before trying sfc again.
