Sims 4 app freezing after Windows Update

I just recently got the newest Windows Update on my PC, and ever since, I’ve been unable to get onto Sims 4 or Sims 4 (Get Together). Everytime I go on the app, it just freezes, I can’t move my mouse or do anything, and I have to always turn off my laptop in order to get off it. Is there anyway to fix it? Please let me know.

  • ManJuve  If you have any files in ConfigOverride, please delete them.

Otherwise, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • ManJuve  I'm sorry for the late reply, and for not realizing that you already had another open thread.  Catching up has been a bit hectic.

Anyway, please try changing the settings in this post:

If that doesn't help, you may need to clean-uninstall and reinstall the graphics driver, as described earlier in the thread.  Here's the software package for your laptop:

The idea is you download this package, take your computer offline, remove the driver with DDU (described in the thread), and run the software installer, which should give you a clean version of the driver while verifying and otherwise not modifying the other installed drivers.
