Sims 4 black screen keeps happening

I have searched all over the internet today to find a solution and nothing has worked. I am able to load up the game perfectly fine no issues at all. While I am building, my screen just turns black. My game freezes then just turns black. Most of the time this happens I am able to see the screen if I hover over it in the taskbar so I can save and exit. When I was recording using OBS it still showed the screen with no black but I can only see the black when I'm on the tab, so I can't continue playing. A few times the screen changed from black to white and then it just stays frozen and I lose everything. I have no CC or mods. Please help!

If you have a file in ConfigOverride, that would be the first suspect after something in the Mods folder, so don't transfer that.  Or if you do, test it alone, before you move over any other files, and be prepared to ditch that file and create a new one, or go without.

The other files in the user folder can be discarded, as the game will make fresh copies.

  • cyafrphq53it  If you haven't already, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If that doesnt or didn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I played in a clean folder and everything worked amazing! What do I do next to make sure my original folder works?
