Sims 4 cheat console won't open

The cheat console used to work fine and for some unknown reason it won't work. All the other shortcuts like pressing m to bring up the map and using the numbers work just fine. The cheat console also...

Thank you. Apparently both control buttons are broken. That's odd....

So can you assign another key as the CTRL key and use the cheat console successfully?
